The Annual Parish Meeting is a meeting of the electorate of the parish and must assemble annually on some day between 01 March and 01 June.
Downton’s Annual Parish Meeting is usually held in April. Guest speakers are invited to attend to deliver talks on matters of local interest.
The meeting is convened by the Chair of the Parish or Town Council who signs the agenda giving the public at least 7 clear days’ advance notice. The notice must:
- Specify the time and place of the intended meeting.
- Specify the business to be transacted at the meeting.
- Be signed by the Chair of the Parish or Town Council.
The Chair of the Parish or Town Council presides at the meeting.
Only local government electors for the parish are qualified to vote at the meeting. Each elector can give one vote on any question and no more.
